"Let's Learn to Share with Milly and Miles" Workshop

This practical and fun workshop provides practitioners with the opportunity to learn skills to support and encourage young children to how to share and take turns alongside developing effective communcication skills. The session receives excellent feedback with practitioners gaining a fresh and innovative approach to planning activities and using resources.

      The session promotes:

  • Super Sitting
  • Wonderful Watching
  • Lovely Listening
  • Terrific Talking
  • Good Sharing

Candidates will learn to use the Milly and Miles resources and be able to adapt them to a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities.  Based on the activities in the ringbinder and illustrated on the DVD, practitioners will be shown how to map the activities across to the 6 key areas of learning and development from the Early Years Foundation Stage and Letters and Sounds guidance. The workshop will also show candidates how to make relevant links to the Every Child Matters outcomes.

Practitioners will learn how to use each Milly and Miles resource to encourage children to share, take turns, listen, observe, speak, sit nicely and respect each other. We will be playing games and activities in pairs and small groups using the Milly and Miles resources which will help us learn the skills needed and practically demonstrate how to use these in our settings. Activities covered will promote physical skills; social skills, creative skills as well as music, dance, hand and eye co-ordination and role play.

The session is fun and practical and candidates will have the opportunity to be involved in paired and small group work activities. This will enable them to gain skills to encourage young children to be empowered, independent and creative.

The second part of the workshop will also use other resources alongside the items included in Milly & Miles packs to show how Milly and Miles resources can be used alongside other equipment already in early years settings.

Candidates will be given a set of Milly and Miles resources to take away.

Links to the Milly and Miles website will be given for access to the range of FREE interactive games; puzzles; colouring sheets and certificates.

The workshops are delivered over a three hour session but can be extended depending on individual requirements and to include more activities.

Day time, evening and weekend sessions are all available and on site training is available on request. Training can be tailored to meet indiviudal training needs if required.
